Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using The Accused. They govern your access to and use of the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The Accused (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Justin Voss. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and subscribers.

2. Description of Service

The Accused is a subscription-based interactive detective fiction service. Subscribers receive access to monthly case files, AI-assisted investigation tools, and community verdict features.

A free introductory case (the Prequel) is available without a subscription or account.

3. Accounts

You must create an account to access paid content. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must provide accurate and complete information when registering. You may not use another person's account.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and subscribe.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

The Accused is offered on a recurring monthly subscription basis. Your subscription will automatically renew each month unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Payment is processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

All fees are stated in US dollars. Prices may change with 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by law. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.

We reserve the right to cancel or suspend accounts for violation of these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on The Accused — including case files, characters, narrative, evidence, images, and software — is the property of Justin Voss and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, or commercially exploit any content from the Service without express written permission.

7. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses AI technology to power the Partner feature. AI responses are generated dynamically and may not always be accurate, complete, or consistent.

AI partner responses are fictional and for entertainment purposes only. They do not constitute advice of any kind.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to: violate any applicable law; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service; interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; share your account credentials with others; or use automated tools to access or scrape the Service.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

All characters, cases, and events in The Accused are fictional. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or actual events is coincidental.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Justin Voss shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law
