The Accused is operated by Justin Voss. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not store your password in plain text.

Subscription and billing: Payment is handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We do not store your credit card number — Stripe handles all payment data.

Usage data: We store the accusations you file (suspect chosen, evidence selected, written theory) and case results. This is used to power the community verdict feature.

AI partner conversations: Messages sent to the AI partner are transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Conversation history is stored locally in your browser and is not persisted to our servers.

To operate the Service — authenticate your account, manage your subscription, and deliver case content.

To display community verdicts — your filed accusation (suspect and evidence selections) contributes anonymously to aggregate verdict statistics shown after each case closes.

To communicate with you — we may send transactional emails (subscription confirmations, password resets). We do not send marketing email without your consent.

Supabase — We use Supabase for authentication and database storage. Your account data and case results are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy

Stripe — We use Stripe to process subscription payments. When you subscribe, you interact directly with Stripe's payment interface. Stripe Privacy Policy: stripe.com/privacy

Anthropic — The AI partner feature is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Messages you send to the partner are processed by Anthropic. Anthropic Privacy Policy: anthropic.com/privacy

Vercel — The Service is hosted on Vercel, which may collect standard server logs (IP address, request metadata). Vercel Privacy Policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for fraud prevention.

Stripe may retain billing records for longer periods as required by financial regulations.

The Service uses browser local storage to save your investigation progress (notes, theory board, chat history) locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Supabase and Vercel may set functional cookies necessary for authentication and session management.

You may request a copy of your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account at any time by contacting jvoss87@gmail.com.

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account page.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the GDPR. Contact us to exercise those rights.

The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
